TORQUE is a crime thriller about a guy with a hot car and a hot wife and the cool Mexican car thief who's out to steal them both. Set in the underbelly of Michigan's automotive industry, where jobs are scarce and opportunity nonexistent, a car thief named Shaggy Hernandez gets a shot at a score that could land him the cash to start over. But when GM gets the police involved, things get complicated for Shaggy, and he'll be lucky to stay out of jail and stay alive.
Many of the details in the book are informed by Jeremy's work as a cameraman for Real Stories of the Highway Patrol. Riding along during high-speed chases, following troopers on raids, and being shot at turned out to be invaluable research.
TORQUE has already garnered a rave advance quote from Scott Phillips, bestselling author of THE ICE HARVEST:
"Jeremy Trylch knows his way around fast cars, treacherous women and nasty plots, and with TORQUE he's woven them together into the kind of terrific pulp I'm always looking for and hardly ever find. Read it or be left in the dust."
Chapter One was accepted for publication by Allen Guthrie, the author of TWO-WAY SPLIT and SAVAGE NIGHT. His NOIR ORIGINALS webzine features new writers that demonstrate promise.
